Ten Cents (Eps. 11-20)

Updated: May 4

"We'll see!" (Danielle G.)

To commemorate having released another 10 episodes of Young, Gifted and Abroad (20 episodes so far, woohoo!) I wanted to talk about a few things before Episode 21 comes out tomorrow.

1) Pondering about the direction of the show - Things have slowed down considerably in recent months. Comparing May-August with August-now, I've been getting fewer replies, scheduling fewer interviews, and I might have to accept being a couple episodes shy of my goal for the end of 2018 (was hoping and trying for 25, but at this point I'm sitting pretty at 22). But all hope is not lost! This is a perfect opportunity to re-calibrate. Should I release the podcast bi-weekly instead of weekly? How will I go about finding more guests in 2019? Have I overestimated YGA's relevance and longevity overall? We'll see!

2) Y'all are so impressive and brave! - My name twin over at The Thought Card Podcast invited me to be on her show (she's interviewing me this coming Saturday, no idea when the episode will come out). I'm feeling really self-conscious, nervous, and unqualified right now (similar to sentiments that people have expressed to me when I asked them to guest on YGA), which makes me all the more thankful for the willingness of all my guests so far! Y'all keep this show going, and y'all are way braver than me! So thank you! Belated thanks also to my mom, as well as to music producer and beatmaker ProleteR (link 1 / link 2).

3) Lesson/advice from this time around - Start where you're at, start with what you have. Take stock of what you have at your disposal and make use of those things/skills. Take stock of the people around you who could help you, and invite them to collaborate with you, so you can finally start doing that thing that you've been really yearning to do but keep putting off because you don't think you have "enough" of this or that.

Be sure to listen to this episode, "Ten Cents (Eps. 11-20)" for more! And look forward to Episode 21 coming out tomorrow!
